anuradha, the youngest woman mayor in the country, said user charges were automatically deducted from a person's salary every quarter and were also revised periodically. nobody could question the civic authorities' decision in this regard, she added. she said: "computers have entered every walk of life there and everything is very transparent. even ordinary citizen can know what jewels the queen has purchased by a click of the mouse." anuradha, who was part of the 33-member delegation of an international workshop, said 103 mw power is generated from a waste treatment plant there. "we must immediately take up at least a small scale solid waste management project." referring to property tax collection there, she said localities were segregated for different classes and all those residing in a particular area had to pay a fixed rate of tax.
